I'm a 35 year old mom of three who decided to get serious about my health and the direction it was heading in March 2012. I have struggled with being overweight/obese my entire life.
My highest recorded non-pregnant weight is 355lbs, which was in January 2008 when I got pregnant with my first child. The day before I delivered her, I was at 385 pounds. For whatever reason, loosing weight after having my first two kids was very easy for me and I didn't really have to try much to have the weight come off. I was 310 pounds at the point I got pregnant with my third child, in October 2010. Baby number 3 entered the word in July 2011 and the weight didn't come off nearly as easily or as quickly as it had the other times and I was terrified. I knew I needed to start taking things seriously, but nursing an infant, having two toddlers, working full time and keeping a house running are all extremely demanding.
In March 2012 I decided to start the Couch to 5K program and start making better decisions about the food I put into my mouth. Most importantly, I realized that food had become a priority in my life. I turned to food when I was happy, sad, bored, depressed, frustrated, etc. As a Christian, God should have been the number one priority in my life. If you would have asked me then, I would have said He was, but it is apparent to me now that He was an afterthought. I realized and trusted that developing my relationship with God and growing in my faith would give me the strength that I needed to overcome a lifelong addiction to food. I had prayed my entire life that God would help me loose weight so that I didn't have to continue living ashamed of my body. It took a long time, but God is answering my prayer. He was waiting for my heart to be in the right place so that I could give Him the glory and share the story about how He is changing my life with others.
